Victory! Cuyahoga County Prosecuter Heeds Our Request

This is just the first step, but a meaningful one.

Two days ago we launched a petition calling upon Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley to join a national letter of elected District Attorneys and Prosecutors committing to not use their position to enforce new criminal codes against those seeking or assisting abortion care.

Today he joined that letter

This is a small but important victory in the long road we as progressives must take to re – legalize abortion in Ohio. We are now a part of a great resistance movement, not seen in this country since the attempted enforcement of the Fugitive Slave Act in the 1850’s.

Many of you stood with our allies from Preterm over the weekend as they cried describing their experience of having to call and cancel appointments for Saturday because of the cruel trigger ban that is now in effect due to the twisted ideology of the Republican Majority in Columbus.

We have a long way to go but we thank all of you who signed our petition and are standing ready to continue the process of organizing to build power to protect all Ohioans and create the progressive state that we deserve.

A special thanks to Justin Strekal, Suzy Scullin, Deb Kline and Nora Kelley. They started putting the petition together Saturday morning in time for the rally and worked tirelessly thru today to make this victory happen!
