CCPC People’s Budget ( PB CLE ) Meeting Tuesday, September 12 from 6:30 to 8 pm. The People’s Budget is a charter amendment on the ballot in Cleveland this November. It would give Cleveland residents over the age of 13 the ability to directly decide how 2% of the budget (about $14 million this year) is spent on projects in the neighborhoods. How is public input from the neighborhoods going to be organized? Who’s going to decide which projects get included in this part of the budget? And will other parts of the budget be affected by what PB decides? Is this a good idea? If you want these questions answered or have other questions about the charter amendment please attend this meeting with PB CLE representatives. Please click here to register for the event and to submit a question After registering you’ll receive an email with the Zoom link.

Some residents believe a jail in their community will increase income tax revenues, job opportunities, safety and create new businesses. Others said it could stunt the city’s growth, tank property values and invite more crime. What do you think?
Embracing ‘ care response ‘ in Cuyahoga County to transform mental health crisis intervention Describes a paradigm shift where unarmed behavioral health clinicians and trained peers with lived experience in the behavioral health system respond to individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis instead of the police.
Staffing shortage has child care centers turning away families There are nearly 20% fewer childcare slots available in Northeast Ohio than there were in 2020 and demand has remained the same. The low wages paid at most child care centers has caused workers to seek better pay in other fields. The already tainted system may be headed for ruin. And what is the economic cost if workers cannot find child care for their kids?

Ohio’s Wayne National Forest is currently named after General ” Mad Anthony ” Wayne whose specialty was slaughtering the Native Americans who had lived in Ohio for centuries. So it should be a no – brainer to rename it. From strikes to new union contracts. Labor Day’s organizing roots are especially strong this year Like the late 1880’s, workers are facing rapid economic transformation and a growing gap in pay between themselves and the modern -day Robber Baron billionaires of industry. And workers are fighting back, from the threatened UPS strike, to the striking workers in Hollywood, to the Starbucks unionization efforts and now the looming threat of a UAW strike.

The reason was the 90 degree water temperature in the Gulf created by climate change. Imagine the catastrophe when an already Category 3 or 4 storm reaches those waters.
2024 Republicans want to eliminate the Education Department. What would that look like? The Department of Education has an enormous number of responsibilities, including handling student loans, investigating complaints against schools and tracking education progress across the country. And the last thing the fascist Republicans want to see is education progress.
Black Lives Matter
Conditions at the Fulton County jail seem a lot like the conditions at the Cuyahoga County jail. District Attorney Fani Willis is being portrayed as a national hero for prosecuting Trump. Meanwhile, thousands of incarcerated people live in squalor in Fulton County jails, some even dying before their day in court.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis faces Black Leaders anger after racist killings in Jacksonville And rightfully so. Fascist DeSantis couldn’t even mention that race was involved in the killings and instead called the shooter ” a major – league scumbag.” And of course everything DeSantis has done concerning race relations has only emboldened white supremacists in Florida.
All of the clowns seeking the Republican nomination are in a race to the bottom to see who can appear the most racist to cultivate the support of the party’s racist base. What dark – skinned candidates like Ramaswamy don’t seem to understand is that they will never get enough support from the base because of the color of their skin.
